The Evil of the Pakistani Taliban

For a long time the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other Neo-Khawarij that have been been teaching a literalist and misguided interpretation of Islam have been attacking traditional Sunni, Shia, and Sufi Muslims in Pakistan.  You would have read about traditional Sunnis, Shia, Sufis and Ahmadi groups in Pakistan being attacked in various ways.  Especially the professionals such as Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, etc. (similar tactic used by the Serbians on the Bosnians during the ethnic cleansing and holocaust)

This new chapter in the killing of traditional and/or minority Muslim groups such as the Ahmadi is nothing new, however the intensity is more than before due to the fact that the Taliban have gotten a foothold in Pakistan more than ever before.  The funding for these groups originally started from the Arabian Penninsula to Pakistan then to Afghanistan especially during the Russian-Afghan War.  However, as time went by this funding continued to the post "Mujahedin" era and on to the "Taliban".  These same kind of misguided groups also do civilian attacks in the Phillipines, Somalia, and other parts of the world that the Muslim communities have been infiltrated by these Neo-Khawarij.

The true faith of Islam does not teach these things, infact it teaches the opposite.  Here is a good website to read about how ISLAM DENOUNCES TERRORISM: www.islamdenouncesterrorism.com

For too long Muslim communities have sat by and felt powerless while the uneducated misguided and politically motivated fanatics try to take the helm of Islam.  However, as the Holy Qur'an says...if we do not protect Islam against such teachings and groups, then we will be replaced by those who can.  God does not change the condition of a people, unless they make intention to take action.  We as a Muslim "Ummah" or community need to condemn and stop these terrorist un-Islamic actions or we will have to answer to God on the day of judgement.  A true Muslim would struggle against these crazies if they want to serve Allah (swt).

Here is an interview with a dreaded Taliban Fighter that has been captured in Pakistan:

Here is the Grand Mufti of Syria rejecting and denouncing the Taliban type of horror and lies:

Here is an Islamic Scholar that has issued a "Fatwa" or religious edict against Terrorism:

Some may say that the traditional schools of Islam have it all wrong and that these Neo-Khawarij are right, but I beg to differ.  Nothing they do other than their label is that of a Muslim.  How is it possible that a faith taught by a man who allowed a bedouin Arab to urinate in front of him in his Holy Mosque and was not hurt, but instead taught about Islam with sweet words, which made the Pagan Arab Bedouin accept Islam due to the tolerance shown by the Prophet and then convert his whole tribe....have such intolerant un-Islamic teachings such as that of the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and the rest of the Neo-Khawarij?  The answer lies in the dirty games of politics, tribalism, money, power, and greed.  Terrorist organizations not only function like Mafias, but they are also in contact with the world's Mafias.  How else is it possible for them to move around so easily...unless they are connected to some organized crime?  This is an important note, because if they are connected to organized crime, that means all this "racial profiling" does not work.  You could have a western mafia person do everything that the Terrorists want, without ever being profiled at the airport!  The reality of the matter is that the terrorist groups are nothing more than opportunists and those guilty of fitna, bida, and shirk combined.   There is no place in Islam for the harming of civilians, women, children, the old, the sick, animals, trees even!  How is it possible that these Pakistani Taliban go into an Ahmadi Mosque in Pakistan and shoot people and blow them up with grenades?  How can they call themselves a Muslim??  They are holding machine guns from the Minaret!  Instead of calling to prayer, they are calling to death!  This is blasphemy!  This is satanic evil!

May 20th - Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Day!

When you attack African-Americans it is racism, when you attack Jewish people it is Anti-Semitism, when you attack Women it is sexism, when you attack homosexuality it is intolerance, if you attack your own country it is called treason, when you attack a religious sect it is called hate speech...however when you attack Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Islam and Muslims the fascists want to call it freedom of speech!

On May 20th servers have been filled with the idea of "Draw Muhammad Day" in a futile attempt to demonize Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), which is the faith of 1.5 billion people on earth.  So, what is the best response to this vile hateful effort to attack Muslims?  No, not like Pakistan who is banning facebook, that is not the answer.  A more powerful protest would be to let Pakistanis use Facebook and Twitter to oppose "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day".

A better response would be to make May 20th "Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) Day"!  This would be the best response behind the campaign to attack Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Islam, and Muslims.  Many Muslims, including myself have taken up the call to post the good news of "Prophet Muhammad Day" on Facebook, blogs, and other forms of communication.  Rather than boycotting and ignoring the hateful Islamophobics, we will educate them showing the world a very small amount of characteristics of God's finest creations. One of the best men whom walked on this earth who was our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).  The servers of the world will be filled with the name of the man that was sent to the whole world to guide it to the right path of love of God.

Through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogs, Forum, and Emails we can educate, mention and introduce the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his love will never depart from our hearts and we will always stand by "There is No God but God, and Muhammad is his Messenger" or in other words that unite all of humankind and the universe "There is only One God" (same message brought by Prophet Jesus, Moses, Muhammad and the rest of the 124,000 prophets sent to humankind).

Some raise the question that pictures and depictions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) have been made before by Muslims, which is true; it was common among both Sunni and Shia Muslims up until the fall of the Ottoman Empire to make such drawings and depictions.  However, following the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the new brand of puritan Sunni Islam from the deserts of Arabia banned all imagery, including taking photographs.  However, among traditional Sunni and Shia Muslims the idea of imagery has been deemed lawful, as long as it is respectful and not used for worship.  If it is used for the purpose of daily matters or rememberance, there is no problem in that.  The problem arises when the imagery is used as an object of worship, rather than an object of rememberance.  Images in Islam should not be used like idols of worship.  Overall, it is not common for Muslims to make such depictions out of fear of idolatry, however if done with the right intent and used for the right reasons it has been deemed "permissable".  Obviously different schools of thought and different Shaykhs will argue on this permissibility, however there are many Shaykhs both Sunni and Shia that will advise that such imagery if used with the right intent and purpose is permissable.

This brings on the issue of the "Muhammad Cartoons" and other Islamophobic material...the difference between "respectable depictions" and "hateful cartoons" is obvious.  One is for positive purposes, the other is for demonization of the faith of 1.5 billion on earth and 10 million American Muslims in particular.  This kind of demonization against Muslims started during the Crusades, however it has found a new place in the heart of right wing fundamentalists and fascists the same way the demonization and hatred of Jews found a place in the heart of the same kind of fascists in Nazi Germany.  In order to dehumanize and destroy a people, you have to take away their humanity and turn them into the "evil other"...maybe a "Scimitar Wielding Orc" perhaps?  The iconic use of Islamophobic material that demonizes Islam and Muslims has been in Western literature and culture for a long time, however many people may have not noticed it.  What this demonization does is lay the groundwork for conditional and automated responses to seeing and hearing things that resemble "the evil other".

The movie and book "The Lord of the Rings" which I loved reading as a youth is a perfect example of a Western centric demonization of all things Eastern and particularly Islamic.  The use of "Green Orcs", "Corsairs", "Swarthy Southrons or Haradrim", and the "Swarthy Easterlings".  All these characters resemble people from Africa, Asia, and The Middle East.  So, you are a young American kid growing up reading "Lord of the Rings" and watching the movie with the turban wearing and masked faced "Haradrim" helping "Sauron and Saruman" from the "Twin Towers"...then you turn on CNN and see somebody that looks identical threating violent Qital...you get the picture.

People become conditioned and predisposed to such imagery to automatically generalize and demonize "the evil other".  This is something that goes against the grain of the American way of life and the Constitution.  This kind of demonization and hatred is something that America was created to fight against...in order to establish a land with equality and justice.  Most Muslims come to this country for better opportunities and in fact better chances to practice Islam without being persecuted.  Other than your occasional idiot who thinks they are doing the work of God by doing Un-Islamic things in the name of Islam, you have a majority of law abiding American Citizens of the Islamic faith who want nothing but the best for this country, that is why the live here!

If you want to see fanatics and fundamentalists go away, then help mainstream Muslims who are trying to deal with these crazies but instead are put into the same barrel of rotten apples. If anything, the best chance the west has in dealing with the fanatics is to get help from mainstream Muslims.  The best way to approach it is not making insulting cartoons and depictions of their beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).  Respect begets respect...love begets love...this was taught by Prophet Jesus and Moses (pbuh) as well.

If we want this world to be a better place for our offspring, than what it is now, we must be vigilant in making peace and bringing understanding.  With the Internet, this should not be to hard, however just like fire who some use to cook food, others use to burn the house down.  We must always keep the balance in life.  What do you do when things are imbalanced? As the Holy Quran says "set the balance straight".  We (the human race) has been fighting for freedom and liberty from day one, but that freedom and liberty must be by law so that justice prevails!

Rima Fakih - First Muslim Miss USA: Schlussel wirft mit Schuld durch Assoziation

The first Muslim Miss USA who comes from a Lebanese Shia backround has been attacked as soon as the glittery diamond tiara was lowered on her head.  Rima Fakih...Is she the first Muslim Miss USA? Will she be able to keep the title after photos surfaced of Fakih winning a pole-dancing contest, considering that she showed more skin in the actual Miss USA pageant by sporting a bikini? Then comes the conservative right wing fundamentalist blogosphere...is she a secret Islamist extremist?

Of course not, Rima, who is a Lebanese Shia Muslim immigrant from Dearborn, Michigan was raised in both the Christian and Muslim faiths.  She clearly is not a fundamentalist and her willingness to parade around in a tiny bikini on national television did not stop the right wing fundamentalist blogger Debbie Schlussel from attacking Rima and calling her a radical because she shares her family name with some officials in Hezb-ullah, the militant Lebanese Shia Muslim group which Washington lists as a terrorist organization.

This is an interesting point, because Debbie Schlussel's backround is that of an immigrant as well.  Schlussel was born in 1969 to a family of Polish Jewish descent.  Her father H.L. Schlussel, was also the son of immigrants.  He was an ophthalmologist who also serve in the US Army, he has been a major influence in his daughter's life.  She became active in politics at an early age, joining the National Teenage Republicans and being named the 1987 Outstanding Teenage Republican.  She was a Jack Kemp delegate at the 1988 Republican National Convention and has worked on numerous political campaigns.  She is somewhat of a "Hezb-jumhuri" (Republican Party).  In 1990 Schlussel ran for the Republican (Hezb-Jumhuri) nomination for the 4th District (Oakland County) of the Michigan House of Representatives.  She was defeated by Barbara Dobb by a single vote from around 8500 cast.  Schlussel has since claimed that voter fraud led her defeat, making allegations of impropriety against the family of her opponent and the judge who ruled on the issue.  In 1998, she stood for nomination to the same district against Marc Shulman.  Schlussel has continued to attack Shulman, in particular when he received the Hezb-Jumhuri (Republican) nomination for the Michigan Supreme Court and was defeated.  So, we can see that Debbie Schlussel has been involved in defamation, allegations, accusations, and lies many times in the past against people in her home town, let alone Miss USA.

If we were to follow this kind of idiotic logic, then every person here in the USA that becomes anything or wins anything from let's say Italian backround, German backround, Israeli backround etc. could be Mafia?  Nazi? or Mossad Agent?  This kind of logic is "guilt by association", something the right wing fundamentalists have done to every Muslim in the USA, especially since 911.

Why else would you take a case like the Rifqa Bary case where a young 13-17 year old girl is indoctrinated in right wing fundamentalist Christianity then paraded on national television to attack her own family, community, and occasional Mosque?  Why else would you demonize all Muslims, just because they are Muslims?  From the view of the right wing fundamentalists "no matter what a Muslim says or does, they don't believe them" (exact words of a lady from a right wing fundamentalist Church I talked to the one visit I made to the Bary trial outside of court).  So, with this logic that "no matter what you say or do...I will not believe you", what kind of dialogue and logic do we expect from these right wing fundamentalists?  Not much obviously, this is why Debbie Schlussel's extremist versions like the "Hutaree" militia who wanted to attack the US Government is something that needs to be watched by the government closely.  What else is Debbie Schlussel doing other than warmongering, hate, division, and distrust?

I recommend reading an article by Ahmed Rehab regarding the weird obsession that the right wing has with Islam: Ahmed Rehab: Miss USA scrutiny indicates weird obsession with Islam

We as a nation should be working to bring everybody together and diffuse problems and issues, not create new and bigger ones like the right wing fundamentalists such as Debbie Schlussel.  The statements regarding Rima are just ludicrous and funny to be honest, however, we live in a world and age that right wing fundamentalists are taken seriously by some minorities who also believe that President Obama is not an American, is a Communist, a Fascist, a Socialist, a Muslim, and hate him of course just because he is African-American.  Which brings up an important point...trying to dehumanize, demonize, and create an "evil other".  This is something that fascist groups do really well, which is exactly what these right wing fundamentalist groups really are.  Fascists who try to act as if they care about the USA.  If they cared about America, they would not attack it's people...ie. American Muslims!

The Constitution guarantees our freedoms....race, religion, etc.  In the future, if an actual Muslim was to become President, that is actually acceptable by our own forefathers....  (I will cite that soon) what would these extremists do then?  America is a country that has a majority Christian community, however it is not a "Christian Nation" or "Christian State".  Also, it is not the 4th Reich that it is made only for Europeans.  It is a country that was founded on the principle of equality and justice.  Every person from every nation, creed, culture, race, religion, gender etc.  is welcome here.  We pay taxes, we join the armed forces, we work in corporations, we work in the government, we are part of this country...no matter how much the right wing fundamentalist fascists think we are not.  The law is the law, and in this case they are outside of the Constitutional Law that guarantees these freedoms.  Every new group that has come to America has had to go through this "gauntlet" of extremist....Catholics, Italians, Irish, Germans, Jews, etc.  They all had to pay their dues before being "jumped into the club" of America.  It is now the turn of Muslims, Arabs, Persians, Turks, Pakistanis, Indians, etc.  The fact that a Muslim won the Miss USA pageant is important, because it normalizes the idea of American Muslims, which the fascists hate, because they want you to believe Muslims are all Terrorists (eventhough that is less than 1% of the population of Muslims in the world).  Read more: www.islamdenouncesterrorism.com

Ironically, Rima would be ostracized by Hezbullah, which is the crazy part of these idiotic accusations.  Something important to note here is that at one time these same right wing fundamentalists accused Muslim women who wear Hijab as being extremist (which is not true), however now these accusations send out a very clear message to the Islamic world and community that if a Muslim woman wears a headscarf, chador, burkah, niqab, bikini, or nothing at all...she still will be accused of being a terrorist!  This fascist ideology of the right wing fundamentalists has to stop!  This is unjust and un-American.

Hopefully, through proper education and understanding of Islam and the Constitution of the USA, people like Debbie Schlussel will come to understand that they are misinformed and following a dangerous path of hate and fascism.  Otherwise, if these right wing fundamentalists get their way, we all will be wearing "Green Crescents" on our chest and hiding in attics and basements.

Islamic Fashion For Women: Marketing to 1.5 Billion Muslim Consumers

Most western corporations usually produce products for western fashion trends , however they are missing out on a niche market which is made up of 1.5 billion consumers, which is of course is the world's ever exponentially increasing Muslims and to be more specific Muslim Women...

Considering that we are hurting really bad in America in regards to manufacturing and production, we should have had our capitalist hats on this situation...instead, Turkey, Korea, Iran, Arab & Asian Countries, China and others are producing many products for the Islamic World.  This could have been our chance to get out of the downward economic spiral, however instead due to our right wing fundamentalists bad mouthing Muslims and putting them down for their race and religion, we will be all "back of the bus" on this opportunity for economic growth.

What should be noted is the rising power, influence, and importance of Turkey, which was traditionally the last strongest Empire in the Muslim world.  There have been many talks amongst the 1.5 billion Muslim population of the world in regards to an "Islamic Union" similar to the European Union, except for the fact that it would be all the Muslim majority countries of the world.  This of course would make it the largest world union if it was to take place.  The prosposed monetary unit has already been printed, which is called a "Dinar", based off of the old Dinar that was used from Spain to China in the "Golden Age" of Islam.

Now, this brings us to what do we as Americans do with such a global community of 1.5 billion people?  Do we keep demonizing them for the crimes of the few?  Do we keep pushing the old Crusader mantra that Muslims are evil Anti-Christ soldiers?  Do we keep treating Muslims like second class citizens?  If we want to lose our "Superpower" status, then we can join the right wing fundamentalists and call Muslims names and treat them poorly.  However, if we want to keep our place in the global society, we need to embrace Muslims with open arms so that we at least have a chance of a future in the world that we are not sanctioned by let's say the European Union, Asian Union, South American Union, African Union, and the emerging Islamic Union.  I remember listening to a lecture in Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah that covered this issue in depth and how the students were listening.  I hope that those students that were there with me listened well and will look towards a positive future and relationship with the worlds 1.5 billion Muslims.

As an American Muslim I would like to see the USA be at the forefront of business and global relations.  However, with dogmatic right wing fundamentalists we may be going into a new dark ages of inquisitions and Crusades. The choice is ours, do we as a nation follow hate mongers or our current administration and our current President that wants to help create a better America in an ever global world.  We are now like the Ottomans at the height of their power, before they became "The Sick Man of Europe".  We may become "The Sick Man of America".  Canada has already embraced it's Muslim population so much so that you can see "Halal" fried chicken in many Kentucky Fried Chickens, where are we on this massive niche market?  This could be the economic game changer.

Looking forward to a renewed America with traditonal yet progressive values of embracing the new and having an open mind...

Futuwwa - The Way of The Spiritual Warrior

Futuwwa is a treasure obtainable by climbing high beyond all the “highest mountains of the world”...What business have those who fall tired even on a smooth road with such a treasure?

The Islamic Code of The Futuwwa
(Spiritually Youthful Chivalry and Honor)

Reading the daily news on CNN and other media outlets, you run across articles that feature Muslims or those who call themselves Muslims doing horrific things which are dishonorable.  It is as if they have forgotten the commandments of God and the tradition of their ancestors and have run a muck and have become hypocrites (Munafiqs).  So, I saw it necessary to write about Islamic Chivalry as I have in the past when faced with such ridiculous abuse of Islam, such as that of the Times Square Bomber from Pakistan or Bryant Neal Vinas from America.  Their  actions are a result of those who have misinterpreted such a beautiful faith of peace, love and harmony.  As he is being condemned in this life, he will also be condemned in the hereafter.  God is just and delivers justice to all beings regardless of what label of faith they carry. As the Qur'an says "God is closer than your jugular vein" and always knows what you do and what you harbor in your heart and mind.  Now on with the meaning of Futuwwa or in Persian "Javanmardi"...

Meaning youth and chivalry, Futuwwah, as a term, is a composite of virtues such as generosity, munificence, modesty, chastity, trustworthiness, loyalty, mercifulness, knowledge, humility and piety, and it is one of the stations a traveler on the path to Allah passes by and a dimension of sainthood.  (It has some similarities to Zen Buddhism's concept of "Bushido", Christian Gnosticism, and Jewish Kabalah, which is not surprising when one realizes that God is the source)

Sum of the four virtues:

1. Forgiving when one is able to punish.
2. Preserving mildness and acting mildly and gently when one is furious.
3. Wishing even one's enemies well and doing them good.
4. Always being considerate of the well-being and happiness of others first even when one is needy.

24.2 ) "Futuwwah is knowing that others can be forgiven for their misdeeds, but you yourself are always at fault;  that everyone and everything else is complete, while you yourself are lacking. Futuwwah is showing understanding and compassion equally to what appears good and what appears bad.  The highest form of Futuwwah is when nothing occupies you but Allah."  - Abu `Abdullah al-Sajazi in FUT-99

Futuwwa, defined as youth and chivalry, is really a composite of such virtues as generosity, munificence, modesty, chastity, trustworthiness, loyalty, mercifulness, knowledge, humility, and piety. It is a station on the path to God as well as a dimension of sainthood, and also signifies that one has made altruism and helping others one’s second nature. It is an important, indispensable dimension of good conduct and a significant aspect of humanity. Derived from fata’ (young man), futuwwa has become a symbol of rebelling against all evil and striving for sincere servanthood to God:

"They were young men who had believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance. And We strengthened their hearts, when they rose up and declared: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and Earth; we will not call upon any god beside Him, or then we had spoken an outrage. (18:14) expresses this eloquently. They said: We have heard a youth talk of them (the idols); he is called Abraham (21:60) expresses the position and influence of one who has achieved perfect futuwwa in his or her community, one who has sought to guide humanity to truth. By contrast, the young men mentioned in the verses: With him there came into the prison two young men (12:36) and: (Joseph) told his young (servants) to put their merchandise (with which they had bartered) into their saddle-bags (12:62) were ordinary young men without chivalry. "

As many people have written on or talked about futuwwa since 1400 years ago, the concept has been defined in many ways:

not despising the poor or being deceived by the rich and riches; being fair to everybody without expecting fairness from anyone; living one’s life as a pitiless enemy of one’s carnal self; being ever-considerate of others and living for them; smashing all idols or all that is idolized, and rebelling against falsehood so as to be wholly devoted to God Almighty; bearing whatever evil is done to oneself but thundering where the rights of God are violated; feeling remorse for the rest of one’s life for committing even a small sin, but overlooking others’ sins regardless of how large they are; seeing oneself as a poor, lowly servant while considering others as saintly; not resenting others while maintaining relations with those who resent you; being kind to those who hurt you; and serving God and the people more than anyone else, but preferring others to oneself when it is time to receive one’s wages.

Some have summed up futuwwa in the four virtues mentioned by Hazrat Ali, the fourth Caliph (first Imam of the Shia) and cousin of the Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings. They are:

forgiving when one is able to punish, preserving mildness and acting mildly and gently when one is furious, wishing one’s enemies well and doing good to them, and being considerate of others’ well-being and happiness first, even when one is needy.

Hazrat Ali was one of the greatest representatives of futuwwa. When he was stabbed by Ibn Muljam while leading the morning prayer in the mosque, his children, who saw that their father would die, asked him what he wanted them to do with Ibn Muljam. He did not order his execution in retaliation.

During a battle, Hazrat Ali threw his enemy to the ground and then released him. His reason: When ‘Ali was about to kill this man, the latter spat in ‘Ali’s face, which angered him. Fearing that his motive for killing the man was now confused and sullied, ‘Ali released him. He felt sincere grief when Zubayr ibn ‘Awwam, a leading Companion and his staunch enemy, was killed. Since he always considered others first even when he was in need, he usually wore summer clothes in winter and trembled with cold. It was said about him that there cannot be a young, chivalrous man like ‘Ali, and there cannot be a sword like Dhu al-Fiqar (‘Ali’s sword).

‘Ali lived with the Prophet, upon him be peace and blessings, and was raised by him. He lived a perfectly honest, pure life without any taint, and embodied God’s answer to the Prophet Moses, upon him be peace, about futuwwa: It means that you are able to return your self to me as pure or untainted as you took it from Me.The signs of a fata’ (young, chivalrous one) are that the individual’s, created with the potential to accept Divine Unity and Islam, is totally convinced of Divine Unity; that it urges him or her to live according to the requirements of this conviction; that, without being captivated by carnal or bodily desires, he or she lives a pure, spiritual life; and that he or she always seeks to please God in his or her deeds, thoughts, and feelings. One who cannot be saved from the temptations of the carnal self, Satan, appetites, love of the world, or attachment to the worldly life cannot climb upward to the peak of futuwwa.

Police Ask Florida Community To Help Catch Terrorist Mosque Bomber

FBI says it was hoping for more tips after release of video.

by Larry Hannan

A day after releasing security video of the (extremist Christian) man suspected of firebombing a Jacksonville mosque, law enforcement officials acknowledged they had not gotten nearly as many calls as they expected.
“Someone out there knows who this person is,” said FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Jim Casey of Jacksonville office. “Anyone who recognizes this individual needs to contact us.”
Casey declined to reveal how many calls the FBI has gotten.
Authorities found remnants of a crude pipe bomb in the explosion, which occurred about 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida on St. Johns Bluff Road.
“This was not a harmless prank,” Casey said. “We found shrapnel from the blast a hundred yards away close to [Florida] 9A.”
At the time of the blast about 60 people were inside. The firebomb caused minor damage to the building. There were no injuries.
Casey said the minor damage was primarily due to the strength of the mosque building. If anyone had been closer to the blast, they would have been injured or killed, he said.
The video has been sent to the main FBI office in Quantico, Va., to be run for facial analysis along with video of another incident on April 4. The April disturbance occurred when a man entered the center and shouted “Stop this blaspheming,” before people chased him away. He’s also wanted for questioning although authorities say they don’ think it’s the same man in Monday’s video.
Officials with the FBI, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Attorney’s Office and Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said they were following several leads in the case. But they declined to discuss those leads or speculate on a motive.
The case is being investigated as a possible hate crime on suspicion of domestic terrorism. The perpetrator also could face civil rights charges. Kevin Frein  with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Jacksonville said it is difficult to say exactly what charges until more is known about the motive.
Authorities said it was unclear if the bombing had anything to do with the recent controversy over Parvez Ahmed’s appointment to the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission. Ahmed, who is Muslim, attends the center.
Lt. Mike Williams with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homeland Security Division said there is no evidence that hate groups in North Florida are behind this.
Times-Union writers Jeff Brumley and Jim Schoettler contributed to this report.

Barack Hussein Obama: America's Intellectual President

Considering that Barack Hussein Obama is one of America's most intelligent Presidents to sit in the Oval Office, I decided to put together a compilation of his most famous quotes.  As intellectual and intelligent this man is, he is also down to earth and human.  In Persian we would call him "Khaki" or "Dervish", meaning somebody that is "Down to Earth", yet he is also very refined and articulate.

Just to make sure, let's get some right wing myths out of the way:

1. Obama IS an American Citizen born in Hawaii.
2. Obama is NOT a Muslim, he is a CHRISTIAN. (His father was Muslim and mother was Christian)
3. Obama is NOT a Communist or Fascist.  (You would have to be right wing to be fascist, ie. Neocon)
4. Obama IS an African-American
5. Obama's name IS Muslim, even though HE IS NOT a Muslim because his father who was a Muslim named him.  "Barack" means Blessing, "Hussein" is the name of the Prophet Muhammad's Martyred Grandson who is held in high esteem by Shia Muslims as well as Sunni Muslims, Obama does not appear to be a Muslim name, rather it is an African name from Kenya.

Now that those things are out of the way...

Quotes relating to the faith of 1.5 Billion Citizens of Earth & 10 Million Citizens of the USA (Islam):

I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.

Barack Obama

The United States is not, and never will be, at war with Islam.

Barack Obama

Now here are the rest of the quotes from this great President:

A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'
Barack Obama

After a century of striving, after a year of debate, after a historic vote, health care reform is no longer an unmet promise. It is the law of the land.
Barack Obama

Al Qaeda is still a threat. We cannot pretend somehow that because Barack Hussein Obama got elected as president, suddenly everything is going to be OK.
Barack Obama

America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.
Barack Obama

Americans... still believe in an America where anything's possible - they just don't think their leaders do.
Barack Obama

As a nuclear power - as the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon - the United States has a moral responsibility to act.
Barack Obama

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
Barack Obama

Community colleges play an important role in helping people transition between careers by providing the retooling they need to take on a new career.
Barack Obama

Contrary to the claims of some of my critics and some of the editorial pages, I am an ardent believer in the free market.
Barack Obama

Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.
Barack Obama

I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.
Barack Obama
